Deer Stalking
Honouring Tradition, Protecting Nature
Auch Estate lies at the heart of some of Scotland’s most renowned stalking grounds, offering some of the finest deer stalking in Argyll and Perthshire. With a mountainous landscape that includes seven Munros and six Corbetts, Auch Estate is both a challenging and premier-quality sporting estate.
Responsible deer management is essential to maintaining a healthy, balanced ecosystem. At Auch Estate, we work closely with NatureScot and the Breadalbane Deer Management Group to ensure ethical and sustainable practices.
Red deer are the most common species on the estate. Roe deer are occasionally seen, and in recent years, sika deer—an introduced species originally from the Far East—have also been spotted.
Guests will stalk truly wild deer the traditional way—on foot, across rugged terrain. You’ll need endurance, patience, and skill to take a stag or hind, guided by our experienced professional stalkers. Along the way, you’ll gain a deeper understanding of deer management and deer selection.
Stalking season typically runs from September to February, though exact dates vary each year. Please contact Auch Estate office for current availability, rates and more details
Fishing
Cast Your Line in Pristine Waters
The River Orchy runs along the northern edge of the estate, just a short drive from Auch Village. Known for its crystal-clear waters and breathtaking scenery, it offers a unique fishing experience for both salmon and sea trout.
The salmon season runs from February 11th to October 31st, with the best fishing typically between July and September.
As part of our ongoing conservation efforts, the River Orchy operates on a catch-and-release basis for both salmon and sea trout. This approach helps protect and sustain healthy fish populations for future generations.
Both fly fishing and spinning are permitted. However, the use of worm, shrimp, or prawn is not allowed.
Please contact Auch Estate office for availability, rates and more details.
